"Belltech Business Card Designer Pro" Review and Guide

This review of Belltech Business Card Designer Pro is meant to assist anyone thinking of investing in a business card program. It points out both the good and the bad aspects of the program in order to assist you to make an informed choice.

This review is based on version 4.7 of the program.

Look and feel
The interface is intuitive. It’s easy to find your way around the program as the layout conforms to most graphics programs. Buttons are large and easy to figure out and use.

Templates
157 templates available in different categories from accounting to weddings.
50 background templates
Which all adds up to – lots of choice.

Some of the templates look too cartoonish, but there are some really good ones with professional looking photos.

Level of technical know how required
Not much technical ability required to do a good job with the program. If you can find your way around word you can find your way around this. Help files are available as is the handy tips window on the right to help you figure things out.

Formats
Saving formats are Adobe pdf file and Business card file (bcf).
You can also export the document as jpg, bmp, gif, png, wmf and tif.
Resolution is up to 600dpi.

Trial version functionality and restrictions
The trial version is fully functional apart from a “trial version” stamp which appears on the printout. This makes it useless for printing but very good for assessing the product before you buy it.

Print sheet stock and layout options
The program allows choices of card orientation allowing compatibility with Avery, Herma, Formtec, DECAdry and Sigel business card paper. This isn’t the widest choice of print sheet stock options available and could be limiting.

The size is also customizable to your dimensions. Double sided design is possible. Printing options are customizable and there is a great preview window that allows you to see the layout.

Graphic design capability
The program allows drawing of basic shapes such as squares, circles and rectangles. Has an import feature allowing importing of graphics. Allowed formats are jpg, bmp, gif, png, wmf and tif. Handy preview window available for importing graphics.

-64 MB of RAM and less than 30 MB of hard drive space.

Value for money
Belletch Business Card Designer Pro costs US$ 29.95, which is just about standard for such programs. Overall its reasonable value for your money.
